Rafting FAQs

Any questions?

What should I wear for rafting?

For rafting at AREA 47, all you need to bring is swimwear and a towel. All equipment – wetsuit, shoes, helmet and life jacket – will be provided on site.

Where is the best place to go rafting in Austria?

One of the best rafting experiences in Austria can be found in the Ötztal valley in Tyrol – especially in the Imster Schlucht gorge and on the Ötztaler Ache river. AREA 47 offers not only pure action, but also a real safety bonus: additional guides provide even more support on the water.

How much does rafting cost?

The prices for rafting vary depending on the tour and provider. At AREA 47, prices start at £56 for children and £75 for adults. You can find the current prices on our website at any time.

Till when do I have to book my rafting tour?

We recommend booking your rafting tour in advance. Weekends and summer days in July and August are especially popular and fill up quickly. The sooner you book, the better.

Is experience required for the advanced rafting tours?

Yes, experience is essential for participating in advanced tours. This means you should have completed a beginner tour or have prior experience in this sport. This is for your safety and must be confirmed on-site.

Can the number of participants be increased or decreased at short notice?

In the case of a last-minute cancellation, we must adhere to our terms and conditions, and therefore cancellation fees will apply. However, if there are still enough available spots, adding participants is definitely possible.

What is the minimum age for the activities?

Each activity has different age restrictions. Here you can find an overview of the minimum age for each activity. The minimum age is based on legal regulations that we must adhere to, and unfortunately, we cannot make any exceptions.

What shoes should you wear for rafting?

At AREA 47, you don’t need to worry about suitable footwear – we will provide you with special neoprene shoes. You do not need to bring your own shoes. For all rafting, canyoning and caving tours, all you need is swimwear and a towel.

Can you take items like a phone, backpack, etc., on the tour?

It’s better not to! You’ll need your hands free for the activities, and personal belongings often fall out of pockets and can get damaged. Just store them in our lockers at the Climbing Base or the Outdoor Base. Important medications can, of course, be taken along—just let your guide know.
